This is my news blog.
In particular, it will largely be a political news blog. For many people, political news manages to be complex, mundane and frustrating. It's often easier to not pay attention than try to keep up with the latest policy or controversy. Soon you don't know the difference between stimulus and secession, Merkle and McConnell.
That's what Lurz Blurbz is for. Sure, some people just don't care about politics. And that's fine. Maybe they'll, I don't know, happen to mosey over to my other blog, Soft Nonsense for my random silliness, nerdery, etc. But hey, the internet is a big place, so whatever.
For those who want to know more about what's going on in the country and world (and, often, my city of Chicago), this blog will try to provide a succinct, easy-to-understand summary of the previous day's news. Enough to give a well-rounded bit of information and whet your appetite for more information without talking down to you or being confusing.
Admittedly, this venture has some degree of selfishness. As an aspiring journalist, I wanted to figure out a way to practice my writing and forcing myself to immerse myself in the news. So to aid both my and your hypothetical journeys on the path to political enlightenment, the tabs at the top of this blog all link to important people, policies, facts, etc. Nothing is worse than reading something, then realizing halfway through that you have no idea who or what is being talked about. For now, barring a sudden inundation of HTML knowledge, these tabs will have to do as our resource.
Now, I'm pretty new to all this writing about big-time politics stuff. I'm the first to admit I'm a young naive liberal, though I will do my best to make the news and small amount of commentary I give accessible to everyone. So please feel free to comment to correct me, tell me to add something, to argue, or to encourage. I'm doing this in no small part to learn, and every bit of feedback helps as I try to figure out what the heck this blog is going to be.
Hopefully you'll find it worth reading as I do.
